Description
Dexter-Russell Series (S17) has a very specific purpose. When cooking clams the shells may not separate until they are sufficiently cooked at which point the shells pop open. The clams inside may be difficult to remove calling for a special tool to get inside at the clam meat. The round blade tip is not made so much for cutting as digging and the straight edge makes it easy to slip between shells. The rigid blade is suitable for opening clam shells and the beechwood handle is secured to the blade tang with brass rivets.
